ACUTE HAZARDS/
SYMPTOMS
PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Flammable.
NO open flames, NO sparks, and NO smoking.
Powder, alcohol-resistant foam, water spray, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION Above 41░C explosive vapour/air mixtures may be formed.
Above 41░C use a closed system, ventilation, and explosion-proof electrical equipment.

EXPOSURE
PREVENT GENERATION OF MISTS!

  • INHALATION
  • Cough. Sore throat. Unconsciousness.
Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Artificial respiration if indicated. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
  • Dry skin. Redness. Pain.
    Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Refer for medical attention.
  • EYES
  • Redness. Pain.
    Safety goggles.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION

  • Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Rinse mouth. Rest. Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Ventilation. Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable containers as far as possible. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place. Do NOT wash away into sewer (extra personal protection: filter respirator for organic gases and vapours).
Fireproof if in building. Separated from strong oxidants. Cool.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
    COLOURLESS LIQUID.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:
The vapour is heavier than air and may travel along the ground; distant ignition possible.

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
    Reacts with strong oxidants.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
    TLV: 25 ppm; 104 mg/m3 (as TWA); 40 ppm; 167 mg/m3 (as STEL) (skin) (ACGIH 1997).
    MAK: 25 ppm; 100 mg/m3; H (1996).

    ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its vapour and through the skin.

    INHALATION RISK:
A harmful contamination of the air will be reached rather slowly on evaporation of this substance at 20░C.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance irritates the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. Exposure could cause lowering of consciousness.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
    The liquid defats the skin.
